The San Diego Chargers have been bestowed with high hopes going into the 2009 season. Many are even speaking of this team as a favorite to emerge from the AFC conference and make its way to the Super Bowl.
The Chargers have perhaps the easiest division to win, the AFC West - with the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos there are no serious threats at all to challenge for the division title. Anything less than a Super Bowl appearance will be a disappointment for the franchise.
Starting with Philip Rivers, who is coming off of a career year that saw him breakout in 2008, the passing game has been great, thanks to Vincent Jackson at wide receiver and Antonio Gates, one of the best tight ends in football.

While the Chargers came away with a 24-20 win, this was done in anything but simple fashion and they nearly blew what should have been an easy game. Chalk it up to an off day.

I do believe their offense is powerful, but not enough to make up for the weak defense. For this team to compete and live up to their expectations, the defense needs to improve immediately. - 29967
