Know The Relationship Between Sony Televisions And Refresh Rates

By Matthew Kerridge

Before you go out and buy one of the many different and exciting Sony televisions you must take into account several factors though none is more important than determining the correct refresh rate. At the moment, Sony is selling its renowned BRAVIA products that you will find come in three distinct flavors including the 240Hz and 120Hz as well as 60Hz models.

It pays to, before picking any one of these Sony televisions, understand what the refresh rate really is and how it impacts your buying decision. When you look at the different models you will notice that the product is referred to as 60 Hz or 120 Hz or even 240 Hz.

The refresh rate is nothing but the number of times the television set scans for images in just one second. It is therefore necessary to understand how the various speeds of scanning in a television set affect the quality of image displayed on the screen.

Without any doubt, if the television has higher number of scans then it will be able to produce the clearest and sharpest images and these images will also be blur-free. This in turn will translate into viewing better quality of the moving image. The only trouble is that the higher the refresh rate is the higher will be the cost of the Sony television set. So, you must balance quality of image with your budget and individual needs.

So, if you want the best image then you will need to look for the highest refresh rate which will make watching action on the movie a whole lot better. However, if your main interest is to watch soap operas then you don't need to be too worried about the refresh rate because there is hardly any action taking place. Only if you are a sports buff or you like action movies should you be worried about the refresh rate.

If you are skeptic you might well say that the human eye cannot distinguish between the image produced by a set with higher refresh rate. However, by comparing two Sony television sets with varying refresh rates you just might agree that the one with a better refresh rate is the better option.

The bottom line is that if you can afford to pay more for a television set with higher refresh rate then go for it. The 240Hz Bravia Sony television models are certainly worth paying a little extra for, especially if you love sports and like to watch movies with plenty of action in them. - 29967
